Food and Water Print
When a disaster occurs, food might be temporarily unavailable. The same goes for water, electricity and gas. You should have a reserve supply of food and water for yourself and your family that will last at least 3 days.
  • The best foods are those which don’t need to be refrigerated or cooked, and which have a law salt content.
    • For example: canned fruits and vegetables, jam, biscuits, cereals, pasta, rice, dried fruit and nuts, canned meats (pies, ham, patés, etc) ,fruit juices, dehydrated milk, etc
  • Do not forget the specific needs of particular family members:
    • Specific food for:
      • Babies and small children,
      • Those with allergies,
      • Those with dietary restrictions (salt, sugar, etc)
      • Household pets.
  •  Store 3 litres of water per person per day. This will be enough to keep everyone from getting dehydrated.
  • You will need 10 litres of water per person per day if you want to cook and keep a minimal level of personal hygiene.
