In an emergency situation, you’ll need to provide for your household pets as well as for the human members of your family. You should make them part of your family emergency plan. Make sure that your household pets wear a tag giving your contact details. Plan for three days’ food supply for your pets in case you have to stay indoors or evacuate. Organize a way to transport them if the situation is bad. Make sure that a neighbour can take care of your pets in your absence, if there is a disaster. Make sure that someone you trust (a family member, friend, neighbour…) who lives outside the disaster zone would be able to look after your pet.
