In an emergency situation, you’ll need to provide for your household pets as well as for the human members of your family. You should make them part of your family emergency plan.
  • Make sure that your household pets wear a tag giving your contact details.
  • Plan for three days’ food supply for your pets in case you have to stay indoors or evacuate.
  • Organize a way to transport them if the situation is bad.
  • Make sure that a neighbour can take care of your pets in your absence, if there is a disaster.
  • Make sure that someone you trust (a family member, friend, neighbour…) who lives outside the disaster zone would be able to look after your pet.
