If you are elderly :

Organize a network of people who can help you in an emergency, or if you need to evacuate or stay indoors.  If you have any help or care at home, find out if and how they would help you in an emergency or disaster. Give them the contact details of family and friends who can be called upon if necessary.

If you are in a wheelchair :

Have a plan in case you need to be evacuated. If you have carers or helpers, discuss your plan with them and with the organisations for which they work (if any). If you use an electric wheelchair, keep its operating instructions somewhere readily accessible.

If you are blind or partially sighted :

Keep a cane near your bed and tie a whistle to your cane. This will help you to attract attention in an emergency.

If you are deaf or have hearing difficulties :

Keep spare batteries for your hearing aids. Put your hearing aid in a container and attach it to your bedside table so that you can find it quickly and easily in an emergency .
