Your survival kit should contain a range of items that will enable you to deal with an emergency until such time as a rescue team arrives.  When you buy such a kit, read the instructions carefully so that you’ll be able to use each item properly and effectively.  

 

Your survival kit (Catakit) should contain at least the following items:

  • Radio & torch (preferably with a handle)
  • Survival candles
  • Whistle
  • Waterproof matches
  • Swiss army knife
  • SOS banner
  • Flares
  • Stanley knife
  • Lighter
  • Watertight bag in which to keep documents
  • Sturdy work gloves
  • Rubbish bags
  • Survival blanket
  • 5- or 8-litre container
  • 1-litre flask
  • Desk pad & pen
  • Water purifying tablets
  • Cutlery
  • Vacuum-packed food
  • Paper tissues
  • Hygiene kits
 These items will help you to:
  • make your presence known to the emergency services
  • provide light
  • gather information
  • have access to food and water
  • preserve a minimum level of hygiene if the crisis persists.
